Michigan State Senator John Pappageorge, 13th District (Retired)
“Senate Resolution 13 was adopted on February 5, 2013 recognizing The Michigan World War II Legacy Memorial as the state’s official tribute to Michigan’s contributions during the Second World War. Our state proffered 600,000 residents towards the war effort in addition to the support provided on the home front. We may now commemorate these brave service members through this year-round, multi-purpose destination created by Honor Flight Michigan.
With over 30 years of active military duty in the Infantry including two combat tours in Vietnam, I have a strong camaraderie for those that served our country. I have also known the sacrifice families endure as my son has served in Iraq. Accordingly, I am both honored and gratified that this phenomenal gathering place may serve as a reminder of the patriotism and bravery that has made our country what it is today.”
